In 1999, the Islamic Academy of Education founded Yenepoya Medical College. It is ranked among the top colleges due to its reputation for delivering excellent medical education.
YMC Mangalore’s associated college is Rajib Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Yenepoya Medical College is one of the deemed colleges, ranking 86th out of 100 colleges in the country according to the 2020 NIRF ranking.

Since the establishment of the medical college, its intake capacity of MBBS students was 100. However, over time, the National Medical Council (NMC) authorized the college to admit 150 students in MBBS Course with effect from Academic Year 2011.
