The Government Medical College, Srikakulam, was founded in 2008 by the late Chief Minister, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy garu, and is located on the holy banks of the river Nagavali in Srikakulam. It is well-known as RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences), Srikakulam, and covers 35.97 acres.
GMC (Government Medical College) began as a small tertiary care teaching hospital especially for Srikakulam district residents, with an intake of 100 MBBS seats, which has since grown to 150 MBBS seats and 21 PG students per year.
GMC, a teaching medical college with GGH as an affiliated teaching hospital, offers all major specialties and has over 800 beds for student and patient care.
