About

History:
It originated as Berry White Medical School in 1900, founded by British philanthropist Sir John Berry White. 
Upgraded to a full-fledged medical college in 1938. 
Formally established on November 3, 1947, and inaugurated by the first Chief Minister of Assam, Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi. 

Significance:
The first medical college in Assam and the entire Northeast India. 
A tertiary medical referral center for upper Assam and neighboring areas. 
Plays a vital role in providing healthcare services and training medical professionals in the region. 

Courses and Programs:
Offers MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) and postgraduate courses (MD, MS, DM, PG Diploma, D. Pharma, M.Ch.). 
Offers a total of 31 courses in 20 specializations. 
Has produced over 7,500 medical graduates and trained more than 2,750 specialists.
