About
History:
It originated as Berry White Medical School in 1900, founded by British philanthropist Sir John Berry White.
Upgraded to a full-fledged medical college in 1938.
Formally established on November 3, 1947, and inaugurated by the first Chief Minister of Assam, Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi.
Significance:
The first medical college in Assam and the entire Northeast India.
A tertiary medical referral center for upper Assam and neighboring areas.
